Renovations & Enhancements

Since acquiring this magnificent property, we have done fund raising to help support some different renovations and enhancements, which you may read about below.

The Northern Lights Lakeside Lodge (Still Seeking Funding  - See Naming Opportunities)

Picture
The large art studio next to the main house will be converted into this lodge, which will sleep up to 16 more people, with additional bathrooms, a dining hall, and a demonstration kitchen to teaching "Food as Medicine" programming through our small agricultural farm.

Beachside Boat House (Still Seeking Funding  - See Naming Opportunities)

Picture
We plan to build a modest storage structure in the vicinity of the beachfront area where we will store our kayaks, canoes, and other outdoor gear and equipment.

The Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Main House (Funded)

Picture
The Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Main House has 4 floors and is roughly 4600 square feet. During the winter of 2019 we created privacy doors for each of the bedroom floors below the main level and now this house sleeps a total of 11 people. Each bedroom floor has it's own full bath, and functions as a lake-facing sleeping area with 3-4 double beds in each. For certain fee-based retreats and events these floors may be reserved as individual/single suites.

Michael and Karin Victorson "Casita" Guest House (Funded)

Picture
There is an additional 6600 square feet of other buildings on the property, including the Michael and Karin Victorson Guest House, which is a small, lovely lakeside cabin with a kitchen, full bathroom, living room/deck, and bedroom. Following renovations during the winter of 2019, this now sleeps 2 people and can also be reserved as a non-shared (single) sleeping space for fee-based retreats and events. See the renovation floor plan on the right.

The Columbine Foundation Wellness Sanctuary (Funded)

Picture
We converted an "in the round" glass-enclosed car garage into a free-standing yoga and meditation studio, with heated floors, and a stone patio that allows for larger groups during good weather. Final renovations will include a lake-facing, large 12-person sauna and outdoor Cedar spa Jacuzzi.

Mr. & Mrs. D Scott Brown Rocky Shores Beachfront (Funded)

Picture
Not far from the main house is a beautiful beachfront area, however until recently it has been inaccessible due to a lack of adequate stairs, both coming from the main house to a lower landing, and from the lower landing down to the beach. We have created these needed staircases and landings so that the beach can be safely accessed and enjoyed without having to scale down an extension ladder!

The Paul & Suzanne Hanifl Sacred Earth Organic Farm (Funded) and
the
Edward Colston Foundation Fruit Orchard & Apiary (Funded)

Picture
We have identified the ideal location for our small organic agricultural farm and fruit orchard, and have begun planning next steps for land & soil preparation, identification of a water source/system, and determining optimal fruit and vegetable crops.

Picture

William and Jeannette Kale Whitetail Ridge Trailhead (Funded)

Picture
Our property contains 123 acres of pristine Northern hardwood and pine trees. We have begun mapping the forest preserve area to identify optimal trail systems for hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing.
